Just Takes OneWe all know that the rodeo world circulates around the rush of adrenaline, dirt, and competition. The thrill of man versus beast has fueled big crowds and big entertainment for many years. What many do not know is that there is a world behind rodeo that has much more to offer. The times behind the chutes when a youngster is inspired by a competitor taking a moment.
Recently while photographing a Christian Youth Rodeo event I took the opportunity to take my boys with me to work. Prior to the rodeo start time I spent a little time roping a dummy and getting to know these future champions of the sport of rodeo. As my play time ended and I started preparing for work I turned back and found this young man teaching my 5 year old how to rope. Now it is much more than just an older boy teaching a youngster the basics to roping, see my boy is mostly deaf and has to wear hearing aids to hear. Add to this my boy like many children with hearing issues has some challenges with communicating. But none of this mattered, this was simply about a young man seeing an opportunity to influence another with a good gesture. If the world wants to know what the heart and soul of rodeo is they may want to go their local arena that does not have the big name of rodeo. They need to go hang out around a world where the big check is not the defining moment. The big moment is when a young man recognizes an opportunity to help another, and this is going on in small arenas all over America!
Huge thank you to the Christian Youth Rodeo Association for allowing us to be apart of watching these young men and women grow. Also, thank you to Crossroads Cowboy Church for holding the Sunday Morning Service and hosting the event at your arena!

Stock provided by Honeycutt Rodeo Inc! A Moment BackThis year, as most everyone knows, we had the honor of beginning down the road of PRCA photography. For those who are unaware as to what PRCA stands for, it is the Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association; a great honor to be working with this group! With this being our first year, we started preparations for the challenges of booking rodeos to attend to; the very first rodeo that offered to give us a shot was the Crown Motors Ram Regional Rodeo, which occurred May 23rd-24th, this year.
This Rodeo is the first of many that we will be and have been traveling to and we want to thank them for being the first to give us a chance! If you are ready to start planning your Rodeo Calendar; you can Mark the Crown Motors Ram Regional Rodeo down for May 27th and 28th, 2016 in Park Hills, MO!

79 Years StrongThis year marks the 79th Annual Original Will Rogers Rodeo in Vinita, Oklahoma; and Avid Visual Imagery will be there to capture the memories!
Will Rogers was born in 1879. At the age of 11, Will's mother passed and he was sent to several schools. Amongst his schooling, was the Willie Halsell College, located in Vinita, which soon became his favorite. He attented until 1895 and always remembered the happy times, with the friends that he had made. In 1934, at a school reunion, Will told those around him that if they "have a rodeo here next year, and I'll come back!" Sure enough, the following year, Will returned for the old-timer's parade; but unfortunately on August 15th, 1935, just days before the Rodeo, both Will Rogers and Pilot, Wiley Post were tragically killed in a plane crash. From there, it was decided that the Vinita rodeo would be held as a memorial to Vinita's "son", Will Rogers. Since then, the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo has become one of the most popular Rodeo's in the Southwest!
